Sportsmanship Notice
IMPORTANT NOTICE!
UNSPORTSMANLIKE BEHAVIOR WILL NOT BE
TOLERATED AT AAU EVENTS!
• TO: PLAYERS - TEAM PERSONNEL - SPECTATORS
• BE POSITIVE AND SUPPORT ALL AAU ATHLETES/TEAMS.
• DO NOT LOSE YOUR PRIVILEGE TO PLAY OR WATCH
• BE A GOOD ROLE MODEL - RESPECT EVERYONE
Your child's success or lack of success in sports does not indicate what kind of a parent you are. But having an athlete that is coachable, respectful, a great teammate, mentally tough, resilient and tries their best - IS a direct reflection of your parenting.
Conduct and Rough Play
CONDUCT OF PLAYERS, COACHES, SPORTS OFFICIALS, FANS
All participants of AAU sanctioned events have a responsibility to treat players, coaches, officials, and tournament personnel with dignity and respect. All participants must conduct themselves with high standards of good sportsmanship and fair play, at all times. It is the responsibility of every individual to conduct themselves in a sportsmanlike manner.
Profanity, negative chants, booing, trash talk, name calling, personal attacks/threats or other acts of disrespect are unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
*** The head coach and club director shall be held responsible for the proper conduct of all team personnel, players’ family members and spectators associated with their team.
ROUGH PLAY - FLAGRANT FOULS - TECHNICAL FOULS
All coaches and club directors are hereby informed that officials have been instructed to call all AAU licensed girls basketball games according to high school rules and style of play. In addition, officials have been instructed to assess flagrant 1 or 2 fouls when the physicality/player action of the foul(s) warrants. The perception and reputation of AAU basketball being rough and out of control will no longer exist. Please be assured that
Minnesota AAU’s number one priority is player safety. Our second priority is to provide competition that is fair and sportsmanlike, and not influenced by physical intimidation.
“Thank you for working together with your players, game officials andtournament hosts to provide a safe and positive environment for our athletes.”
